Our Story
The Forsyth family came from Canada to a small US rural community (Riley Center, Michigan) in the pursuit of the American dream a week before Christmas in 1963. Cynthia Forsyth (owner) was a year and a half old, when her father assumed a three circuit Methodist church ministry. As a young child, she spent her weekends on a sheep farm inspiring her love of farming and animals. Cynthia graduated from Madonna University with a B.S. in Psychology and Computer Science. She later obtained a M.S.A. in Business from Central Michigan University.
In 2020, Cynthia retired from Ford Motor Company after 36 years as an IT Manager to establish Forsyth Grove in pursuit of her lifelong dream of living on a farm with her family.
The Forsyth family is nurturing an apple orchard, blueberry bushes, blackberries, hops, muscadine grapes, and the family garden with guidance from the North Carolina extension. The North Carolina Forestry division provides direction on improving the land destroyed by a tornado and then timbered.
The family continuously learns how to operate a small farm from neighbors and the community while sharing their experiences. Cynthia is a member of the Granville Gardeners, Granville County Beekeepers Association, and Oxford Armory Farmers Market.
Forsyth Grove has become an adventure where family and friends spend hours reflecting on country life.
Visitors are welcome to pick and purchase seasonal fruits: blueberries, blackberries, muscadine grapes, and apples.
